Mary (Wren) Coleman is a part of US Black heritage.

Mary Jane was born in 1854 into slavery in Louisiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Catherine Wren. Mary Jane, her parents and siblings came to Texas in the 1850s as slaves of Daniel Rawls.[1]

Mary Jane married Albert (Alvin) Coleman in Kendall County, Texas in 1871. [2]

In 1880 Mary Jane and Alvin were living with 3 children and presumably Mary's mother, Winnie Hamilton, in Kendall County, Texas.[3]

In 1900 Mary Jane and Alvin were living with 7 of their children in Kendall County, Texas.[4]


She passed away after 1910, when she and Alvin were living with 4 children in Kendall County, Texas.[5]

Mary ('Jane') has a FindAGrave profile in Wasp Creek Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Kendall County, Texas.
