George Wrottesley was born on 15 June 1827.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]} He was the son of John Wrottesley, 2nd Baron Wrottesley and Sophia Elizabeth Giffard.

He married firstly, Margaret Anne Burgoyne, daughter of Field Marshal Sir John Fox Burgoyne, 1st Bt., on 7 January 1854.

He married secondly, Margaret Phillips on 21 Feb 1889.^{[7][8][9][10]}

George d.s.p. on 4 March 1909 at age 81.^[11][12][13]
