Biography

Elizabeth Wrottesley (d. 1521),[1] is the daughter of William Wrottesley of Reading, Berkshire (will: 26 Dec 1512, proved: 04 Feb 1513).[2][3] She is the first wife of Sir William Askew / Ayscough (1489-1541) of Stallinborough, Lincolnshire. They were married before 1512,[4] and are mentioned in her father's will.

Children

Elizabeth and her husband had 3 daughters and 2 sons, including:

  • Anne, the Protestant martyr (b. abt. 1520/1 - d. 16 Jul 1546 Smithfield, London, age 26)

  3. 3.0 3.1 Bindoff (1982), asserts that her father is Thomas but this refuted by Hudson (1893), who traces the 1512 will of William (d. 1513), son of Walter Wrottesley and Jane Baron, and names Elizabeth as one of his children. Beilin (1996), also identified Elizabeth's father as William Wrottesley, (p. xvii).[2]
