He was the son of Edward Bennet Wrottesley and Ellen Charlotte Rush.^[1]He was born on the 29th of December 1855 at Barnes, Surrey, England.^[2]He married Ellen Mary Isabel Drayson, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Alfred Wilkes Drayson, on 20 April 1881 at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died on the 26th of October 1899 at age 43 drowned on passage to South Africa.
