Wilhelm Württemberg is Notable.

Wilhelm (von Württemberg), Duke of Urach, was born on July 6, 1810, and died on July 17, 1869. He is the son of Wilhelm Duke von Württemberg and Maria Antonia Baroness von Rhodis.

He studied at the Fellenberg'sche Hofwyl Institute in Bern, Switzerland from 1819 to 1823, and entered the Army of Württemberg in 1823, initially serving as a Captain in the artillery, He was promoted to Major in 1835, to Colonel in 1837, commanding the artillery, and to Major General in 1841, commanding an infantry brigade.

In 1848, he commanded a brigade in the division contributed by Württemberg in the First Schleswig War. After the Treaty of Malmö, the brigade was stationed at Altona and then moved to Upper Baden.

He was promoted to Lieutenant General in 1855, and was named in Governor of Ulm inn 1857. He was promoted to the General of the Infantry in 1867.

In 1862, he converted to Roman Catholicism to enable his second marriage to Florestine Princess of Monaco.

In 1867, he was named Duke of Urach while also remaining the Count of Württemberg.

Keenly interested in the arts and sciences, particularly art history and archeology, he was a founder of Württemberg Society for Ancient History in 1843 and the Association for National Natural history) in 1844, both of which he continued to support, He also served as President of the German Society of Ancient History and was a honorary member of several learned and scientific societies.
