July 20, 1969, as the world watched, Apollo 11 made the first manned landing on the Moon in the Sea of Tranquility.  Six and a half hours later, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to walk on the moon.  Armstrong stepped out first, with Buzz following about 20 minutes later.  They collected almost 50 lbs of lunar material to bring back!

Neil Armstrong described the event with the infamous words, “…one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
