It’s hard for us to believe but this is our 8th year that we’ve had a WikiTree booth at RootsTech!

Elyse Doerflinger and Chris Whitten

At that first RootsTech, it was just Chris Whitten and Elyse Doerflinger representing as seen here in this 2012 group photo.   We had a 10×10 booth and an awesome WikiTree banner.  This was also the start of the orange shirts, something we are well known for today.

Over time we’ve gone from 2 booth volunteers to many, a 10X10 to a 10X20 booth, several WikiTree banners and a whole lot more fun.  We’ve had so many great volunteers help us introduce WikiTree to the multitude of attendees at RootsTech and we love the opportunity to meet WikiTreers face to face.

8 years later we are still rocking the orange but there’s a lot more of spreading the WikiTree love.  Check out this year’s group photo!

(L to R): King Henry VIII, Aleš Trtnik, Alja Trtnik, Kitty Smith, Mira Trtnik, Barbara Shoff, Eowyn Langholf, Tess Obenauf, Brian Casey, Sarah Rojas, Jamie Nelson Peter Roberts, Mags Gaulden, Unknown, Susie MacLeod, Kim Jordan, Michael Cassara, Chris Whitten

Our theme this year is “Royal Cousins: Connected to the King @ WikiTree.com.”  We’re featuring two of our favorite Kings, Henry VIII and Elvis Presley.  If you haven’t checked yet, you can see how you are connected to them in our Connection Finder.

King Henry VIII with Aleš Trtnik

Both of them were kind enough to grace our booth with their presence. The good news is that Henry has not had anyone beheaded.  Yet.

One of our booth visitors told us how her husband, when he was younger, looked just like Elvis, so she of course wanted to get a picture with him.  WikiTree Leader Susie wanted to snuggle up to him too.

Another visitor has a documented paper trail to Mary Boleyn so she was very excited to don our crown and pose with King Henry.

Aleš is our Data Doctor King so we made him wear the crown and pose for us too. His wife says she thinks he looks like Henry. Can you see the resemblance?

Even the King of the Dinosaurs wanted a piece of the royal action.
