ancestry gave me a little but I am stuck now
in Genealogy Help by Elizabeth Alderdice G2G6 Mach 2 (27.1k points)

Were any of the people Eddie located, in response to your other post of help?  https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1000141/i-am-giving-up-on-finding-anything-about-my-family

I recommend that you ask specific questions each time you get stuck.  Some ancestors are hard to find, but as more information is indexed, something might be available later on.  For example, a source became available online that finally gave me a relative's exact death date, so now I can order his death certificate.  So pick an ancestor where you are stuck, ask a question in Genealogy Help, link to the ancestor, and ask for help.  Then when you get stuck again, ask again.

There is a James Alderdice who married an ELIZABETH Irwin in South Africa

"Ireland Marriages, 1619-1898", database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FG6H-2QK : 6 February 2020), James Alderdice, 1850.

Familysearch.org is a free site

Might be worth checking out

similar names but never went to South Africa

I did a little work on your tree, plus I put sources on some of the profiles.  I hope that helps.
