If he did it would have been before 1725, or after 1776, which doesn’t seem likely. I can see where Marytje becomes Mary but the last name?? Maybe there was more then on Nicholas?

It seems to me that the better question is whether he ever had a wife named Marytje Lerang.

Chris Chester, who is a fine genealotgist, cites (at https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~brouwergenealogydata/genealogy/p447.htm#i110517 in the Brouwer Genealogy Database) several highly credible sources for the profile that shows a marriage to Mary Rowland on 23 November 1724. I have not looked at the sources, but I am inclined to assume that the information is correct.

On the other hand, the WikiTree profile for Nicholas Kroesen is sourced only to three online family trees (unreliable), and it shows him marrying Marytje Lerang (another dubiously sourced profile) on 23 November 1724.

I expect that investigation of the sources will confirm that he married Mary Rowland, but I also would want to try to figure out who Marytje Lerang was and why she got associated with this man.

Do you have access to the six sources cited in the Brouwer Genealogy Database entry for Nicholas? I think only one of them is available online for free, but all are available on subscription sites that I can access.

Good advice, Ellen.  I did not want to dispute Marytje Lerang as a spouse, but I will see what I can find out about her.  Thanks for your help.
It is also possible that Mary Rowland and Marytje Lerang are the same person. There are a few instances in New Netherland of names that were translated into a different language and came out completely different.
Yes, I find that it was figured out by people who are smarter than I am.  I posted a reply to Marion Poole above and also entered some info in Marytje Lerangs profile.  I do not know if I should leave her maiden name Lerang, which is doubtful, and add the additional names as "other" or wait until her parentage can be determined.
