How can I merge two profiles without including incorrect information?

Parsons-1149 & Parson-635 are duplicate. One has no source and is probably incorrect. If I merge then the new (profile ?) will also be incorrect with no source.

The profiles for the parents and their parents, need to get sorted out and merged before John Burchfield can be merged with his duplicate.  I didn't explore the sources on the mismatched parent, but if there are good sources for one, then that is easy. If not, some research on who is correct parent is needed.
Ancestry trees are not considered sources, so none of the profiles are truly sourced
I ran into something similar to this on my family tree.  I had already done the merge and then noticed that the profile had my Great Grandmother listed as giving birth to 2 children after she had been dead 2 or 3 years.   Great Grandpa remarried and had 2 more children by another woman.  After i done the merge i just adjusted her profile so that it no longer showed her as the mother.
Eddie, I agree that ancestry trees are not sources, but in this case, an 1870 census is referenced which is for a Sarah Parsons, age 90, who was alive at that time. This could be a source for a different Sarah Parsons, or it could also be a census added in error to Gary's ancestor. The PMs must collaborate to sort this out, before any merge is made.
Thank you. Most people do not know that Ancestry Family Trees is not a source.
Jim, It takes two PMs to collaborate. Gary.
Ancestry trees can be a source.  They're just neither good nor reliable sources so we don't recommend you use them as a source.

Its easy... when merging, you will be presented with a screen where you can pick and choose what to include or not.

Dennis, true enough, but it appears that Sarah Parsons-1149 may not be the same person as Parson-635. If the reference to the 1870 census is correct, the she is a different person to whom a husband and children not hers were incorrectly attached in an ancestry tree (who would think that could happen?). On the other hand, the census reference may be incorrect.

It will take communication between the two PMs to sort this out before any merge can take place.
yep... gotta make sure the two profiles are actually duplicates that need merging, first. I merely answered the question asked.

Gary, it does not appear to me that the profiles are necessarily duplicates. Parsons-1149 has a source listed as an 1870 census. Review of that census show Susan Parsons, age 90 (per the census) was an African-American. Unless the reference to the 1870 census was an error, the profiles are for different Sarah Parson/Parsons.

These profiles should NOT be merged (or even requested to be merged) until you have communicated with the PM of Parsons-1149 to determine if they are indeed the same person or different people.

Parsons-1149 has two husbands named John Burchfield.  If you remove the wrong one, you might solve your problem.
