Should people who create duplicates be punished?

What we need is a wikitree project/page where peeps who dupe have to type 25 times

"I created a dupe. I be sorry. Pleez forgive me."

I would start it with "I Changed A Category Page"

PUNISHMENT -- unless there's software to deal it out -- is not possible. Useful software would detect the NEXT time they logged in and FREEZE their computer keyboard or FREEZE their account ..

In fact, if someone does create MORE than ONE duplicate (in say 30 days) THEIR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN until they complete the merges ....

Excellent - and when they not only created the duplicate(s), but set them as rejected matches, having been presented with the already here profile(s), they should have to write it 50 times for EACH duplicate profile in the whole family of them

OOPS!!! I did exactly that but ignorantly.  You see I have this problem.  When I am looking for something my eye goes only to the spot where what I am looking for is.

So if I want to add a spouse, I see the location  on the page where it says add spouse.  I completely miss the line above which says if this person all ready has a profile enter their  ID here.  Then I need to figure out what an ID is because I have not really seen them either for the same reason.

I am catching on but it will take time.  Although I have a Master’s level education forms are my nemesis even ones that I fill our on a regular basis.  I will probably make more similar mistakes but I know you will be patient with me.

So I will spend my next hour merging the files that did not need to be made and thanks for your understanding.  .

Except - when it can be reasonably shown that the creation of the duplicate was deliberate, not accidental.
