Are any records kept of changes of name in Scotland?

Hmmm... I"m not sure, Andrew... but I bumped your question, hopefully someone will educate us both!

If it's a legal change of name then yes records are kept, as amended certificate have to be issued for proof of change of name so that official documents like driving licenses, passports etc can be issued correctly.
