Is anyone closer than 18 degrees from Henry Wells?

I am18 steps from Henry, connected through my Felty family connections.  I am not a blood relatve, however.

Via my paternal Grandmother  Evelyn Wells line...Henry and I intersect as 10th... 4 X cousins.  Our "FCA" was John Merrill ( Merrill-117) my 13th GGF.....Henry's 9th GGF.

Julie, are you not familiar with the Connection Finder links at the bottom of your profile page? Your page says:

Check your self against HEnry Wells on the Connection Finder.It will count the links between him and you by degrees.The links don't have to be blood links; they might be marital ones.

I used the Relationship Finder to discover my connection.  So are you saying I then need to go to the Connection Finder to get the degrees?  It doesn't appear to be anywhere on the initial result I got.

OK, never mind.  I see now that there are two different links, one for the connections and another for the genealogical relationship.  I don't usually respond to this type of post, but recognized Wells from my own ancestry.

Connection Finder and Relationship Finder are completely separate features. Connection Finder is essentially a fun feature that calculates personal connections through various combinations of blood and marriage. Relationship Finder calculates blood relationships.

Go to the Find menu at the upper right of this page. The 2nd item down is Connection. Click on that, and enter Kelts-7 and Wells-14654 in the Connections row.

It looks like you are 16 degrees from Wells.

So now tell me why, when I click on the link to Henry Wells at the top of this thread, and I scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on "find your genealogical relationship with Henry" it appears to tell me how I am related to Henry Wells, but when I click on the "your connections" link (part of the same sentence!), I am taken to my Henry VIII connection.  Does that make any sense?

No, it doesn't necessarily make sense, but that's how it works. When we click on that Your Connections link, we are always taken to the one connection link that persists from one week to the next.

So as Frank says I have to click on the connection finder, but then substitute the person I want (which initiated my inquiry in the first place) for the default!

Yes, my Connection Finder says that I am 15 degrees from Henry Wells.  his connection is through the Hibbard Family. My 3rd GGGM,   Martha Maria Hibbard Wier, buried in Minneapolis, MN....... Also, we are 7th Cousins 3 x removed.
