ON WIKITREE there is Gregory Sidebottom-393, (1912 - 1974) managed by Warren Smith  and this site has mention up front about Gregory  Thomas Sidebottom 1815b Lancashire England :: FamilyTreeCircles.com Genealogy

NOW, in the graphic chart, it shows Gregory, son of thomas george sidebottom, son of john sidebottom, son of thomas sidebottom, voila there's your answer insofar as descent 

Now, CONNECTIONS is entirely different from blood relatives and it is up to you to continue to create profiles and add to the chain of relationships.

I’m finding that my smith and watt grandparents both have smith relatives of same names who then married other connections. Also cousins marrying distant cousins!!
