He was born in England and came to the new world about 1632. He lived for a while in Sciutate and then settled in Barnstable.  I am trying to figure out his children.  One source shows 26 different children. The Great Migration series has fourteen. His merged profile has 74, many of them probably duplicates. Some of the children seem to have been born when he was quite old.  I will be working on merges of his wives and children.

Will be working on Henry Cobb's first son, James Cobb who was born about 1632 at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

I have requested to be added to the Trusted list.  I have confirmed information by many respectable genealogists of the correct spouses, children and, most importantly, that his ancecstors cannot be determined.  I propose to amend Henry's profile to agree with my information online at http://chesebro.net/tng/getperson.php?personID=I86088&tree=Complete

See Cobb-37 updateded with the most accurate information - especially that his ancestors are unknown!

Per GM vol I-III, p 393, his will, dated 4 April 1678 and proved 3 Jun 1679 (PCR 4:1:22-23) names the following children:

Additional children per GM referenced above:

12. Mehitable b Sep 1651 (NEHGR 9:284); bur 8 Mar 1651/2 (PCR 8:42; NEHGR 9:286)]

13. Earlier dau Sarah  [b 15 Jan 1658; bur 25 Jan 1658]

14. Ephraim b 11 Sep 1671; non further record

Same source indicates his wives were:

  1. by 1632 Patience Hurst, dau of James; she d by 4 May 1648 (PCR 8:42; NEHGR 9:285)
  2. 12 Dec 1649 in Barnstable, Sarah Hinckley (PCR 8:42; NEHGR 9:287); she . bef 2 Mar 1679/80 (PCR 6:32]

Charles Robert Anderson (GM) strongly recommends Philip L. Cobb, A History of the Cobb Family, Part 1 (Cleveland 1907) for its many transcript of early records.

I would typically trust Anderson

Looking at the many children on the profile page referenced above, the following are not listed by Anderson, and therefore (IMHO) questionable.

  • Thomas
  • Augustine
  • Edward
  • Experience
