Challenge of the Week: Add missing dates to profiles

Question

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our Data Doctors Challenge for this week?            

Aleš's "WikiTree+" data analysis has uncovered thousands of profiles that are missing dates.

This is a true genealogists' challenge. Every one requires research.

1. If you can find a source with a date, enter it with the source citation.
2. If your research doesn't yield a date, see if you can estimate one based on the family members. If you do estimate a date, be sure to include the {{Estimated Date}} Research Note Box along with an explanation of how your estimate was made.

Here is the table of profiles with no dates.

If you find or estimate a date, set the status for the profile [more info]. That will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the badge and the bragging rights.

If you're participating, please post here to let us know. It helps us avoid stepping on each others' toes, and it's nice to cheer each other on. Also post here if you have any questions about how to participate.

Is there a report that can be run to find any of my own profiles with missing dates? Thank you!

Missy if you go to your Suggestions, you will see if you have any date errors. Suggestions are in the drop down menu under "My Wikitree".

I just list entries by date (I use FTM),  all zero dates are at the end and easy to fix.  I work much on old records, so have many estimates and rigid rules. See

Hey so, so many of these are really old (well if they were to be dated looking like from the profiles connected to them) like pre 1500, pre 1200 even.   I am currently only pre-1700 certified.  Should I be adding anything at all even a guess date based off a kid or spouse.  Or just leave them to someone with the right badge ?

Once you get the list, change the URL to go a few hundred pages later in the report.

Yeah, thanks Kay figured out a few that are down the page in the 1700's but mixed in are the older ones, cause well that's what we are doing adding dates :)

OK what are we doing with Orphaned Living people?? Found a few already. I don't want to put in an estimated date because then they will be locked.

Should I just email the profiles to info@?
