My Great Grandma and Grandpa's wedding day. I always thought they look so happy. He died a couple years ago, but they would have celebrated their 67th anniversary this year.

This is a photo taken about 1905 of my grandmother Pearl McCleery, far right, having fun at a picnic. I think there is a sense of happiness when we are able to enjoy being a part of nature--and especially enjoying a beautiful day with friends.

Thank you, Alexis, for this "happy" photo.  Quite poignant at this time when we can't get together and socialize.  Thankfully we can still spend time with our WikiTree friends.
Robin, yes, it is wonderful that so many people have made friends through WikiTree--and even met cousins.
Fantastic photo Sweet Alexis, your grandmother look wonderful seems she enjoy the picnic

Thank You for sharing
Thank you Susan for your always wonderful comment. I have a little secret, I am sure that the man in the center is the man she loved that her father moved her away from. When I was a child, after my grandfather died, she often went back to Illinois to see him.
Wow Alexis what a wonderful story, thank you for sharing this

My Uncle, John Allison Rammel (1922-1988), was a professional photographer.  He was an officer in the National Press Photographers Association for many years.

He took a photo of what I have always thought was a great expression of happiness.  I think the photo was taken sometime around the 1950s.

He is in front of the Christmas tree and with one of their many parakeets on his head.  Likely trying to get the subjects of the photo he is taking to express some happiness too.

Wonderful that someone took his picture! Thanks
Priceless photo.

I wish I knew the story here, it's always been an enigma to me.  This was in a photo album belonging to my grandmother's Aunt Helen. She took many pictures herself, but I think this was sent to her.  I don't know the people involved, but the young woman is clearly happy about something...

My dad's parents, Helen and Victor.  Their more than 50-year marriage was marked with great happiness.

I don't know much about Liezette Ehrman , but I think she seems happy with her lovely daughter beside her and her cat on her lap.

Looks like their house is on beautifully kept acreage.  Great photo.
Thank you. I just noticed. I think those are apples lying on the ground. I remember the apple trees near the house. They kept the property until the last family member died.

This is one of the easier challenges--there are a lot of happy pictures, at least once you're past the era where everyone was so darned serious when they posed. Anyway, this is my [https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kearney-934 mother] and her sister [https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kearney-989 Jane], goofing around at their parents' house about 1950.

And once again I've goofed up the links to the profiles . . .

52 Photos Week 13: Happiness

McGowan-2218.jpg

No single person has given me more happiness than my son, Michael. He was born on November 27, 1968 and died May 17, 2015. He had a very outgoing personality, and everyone that knew him loved him. He was quick witted, and made me laugh all of the time.

As a mother and son, I don't think you will find a couple that was any closer. We spent 15 years together - just Michael and me, before I met the love of my life.

He had such a loving heart, that when my niece and nephew needed a father, Michael stepped up to the plate and took that on position without thinking twice about it. They moved into his house and he became their dad.

He was their happiness as well. My mom misses him everyday.  Of all of her grandchildren, Michael was the only one that called her all of the time, and never missed her birthday, mother's day, or any of the other holidays.

This son, who became a man - was the epitome of happiness to so many people.

This is my 13th week for 52 Photos in 52 Weeks.

Thank you.
Thank you Cheryl for sharing Michael with us. It must be very hard for you and your family not to have Michael in your lives now. The photo of him with the dog is absolutely adorable, and it certainly shows a time of happiness.
Thank you so much, Alexis. You are too sweet to me.
This is very poignant. Thank you for sharing it, Cheryl. I am very sorry for your great loss.
Thank you Chris. So kind of you to say. I do miss Michael every day.
What a blessing it must be to you to know you raised a wonderful man. Thank you for sharing his photo.
Shirley, how very kind of you. You brought tears to my eyes. Michael was a good man. You are a sweetheart.

My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Atkinson, always seemed very happy, even when she was complaining about something. Here she is in 1932 at 20 years old, a year before she married my grandfather.

My maternal grandparents in the park that overlooks Lake  Huron in Goderich Ontario, early fall 1939. They were married a couple of months after this photo was taken. I can see the happiness all over my grandmother's face.

So this is not an "old" photo, but it always makes me happy.  This is my grand-niece.  We were hiking the huge dune in Pacific City, Oregon, and she was wearing thin.  Then she suddenly started chanting: "We can do it. We can do it.  We can ALMOST DO IT!"   With that she climbed on.  And it was a sweet summit with a gorgeous view of the ocean to reward her.

This is a photo of my GGrandfather on my mother's side. The folks in this picture have great reason for happiness. They are soldiers celebrating the end of WW I. The one in the derby is my GGrandfather.

by John Quigley G2G5 (5.8k points)
That had to be one of the happiest days ever. I'm so glad they survived the war.
Yes, I'm sure it was, Percy my Grandfather, survived a mustard gas attack, the story is that he got his mask and equipment on as the gas was rolling in. He walked with a cane the rest of his life.

My grandmother, Bird Smith Dawson, and her brother, Hildreth Bird Smith, were happy to be together, to celebrate family meetings, and to enjoy family jewelry. This picture shows the two of them together enjoying each other and enjoying the Bird-Stillwell cameo, dated 1852, which Bird is wearing. I am happy each time I wear the cameo, which has been in our family for several generations.
