Jones Brothers Murder Trials; 1877. The State of Texas vs. Jesse Jones & Bulger Jones.

Looking for information on the 1877-1879 murder trials of my 3x-great-grandfather Elias Henry "Bulger" Jones & his brother Jesse Jones, charged with murder of their brother-in-law, William Whitford, in Harrison County, Texas 1877. A third man, named Johnson Bohanan, was also charged.

Elias Henry "Bulger" Jones was acquitted at the first trial, along with Johnson Bohanan, but Jesse Jones received a "hung jury" & was tried for a second time, the second trial also resulting in a "hung jury". He escaped from custody during transport to the courthouse where he was to be tried for a third time.

Our family does not know what happened to Jesse Jones after he escaped custody...it has been a family mystery for over 100 years now. The star witness for the prosecution against Jesse Jones was his sister Susan Camille Jones Whitford, the widow of William Whitford.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me where to find the court minutes or records for the murder trials. It would shed a lot of light on this family mystery. Any assistance or info. is welcomed & appreciated in advance.
