Is there a place to see (visual) examples of correct source formatting?

Hello:
I'm trying to learn how to add bio info and sources correctly, but I'm not getting a great understanding from the limited examples on the Source Style Guide. (I've already made mistakes, I know!)
Is there a way to see longer examples showing both how it should look when I am entering data in edit view compared to how it will look in public view? (For example, I'm unclear what the asterisk does.)
Thank you!

The asterisk at the beginning of a line creates an indented bullet.

Have you seen the example profiles in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Examples? Pick a profile that interests you and look in the Edit tab to see how the formatting was created.

These profiles are typically more elaborate than most of the profiles we create. If you want simpler examples, the England Project might have some suggestions of profiles that use the same sources you need to cite.

Thanks for both those tips Ellen - I did find the examples so I will look at them some more. I didn't realize I could look under the Edit tab to see the original formatting, so that is very helpful! (I presumed that was not possible, without actually trying, so my mistake!)
No worries, Susan. Questions like yours are one of the reasons why G2G exists. Many things are not obvious...

I see that both sides of your family are from England, so you might like to consider joining the England project and doing their Orphan Trail. This is a very good way of learning how to create good profiles on WikiTree. A couple of specific pages that might help you are:
