Registration is now closed for our 2020 Spring Clean-a-Thon

This is our fourth (!) annual Clean-a-Thon. The mission is to clear out as many database suggestions as possible over the 72 hours.

The cleaning will start on Friday, April 24, at 8 AM (EDT) and run until Monday, April 27, at 8 AM (EDT).

Will you join us?

To register, just click the ANSWER button and say "Sign me up!" or whatever and include a few words about your location and/or genealogical interests. This will help us assign you to a team. If you already know what team you'd like to be on, say that. The current teams are listed here. More may be added.  Please double-check and make sure the team you are interested in is participating.

Happy Cleaning!

Thanks so much! ❤️
Can't get the tracker to register.
Hi, Roy ... can you tell us more?

Have you entered your Profile ID in the box underneath where it says "Update Status:" and the "Your WikiTreeID:" ?

If you have a screenshot of what's going on, that will also be helpful.
it is working fine now. I thought I had to register each update, but it is doing it automatically, no need to click extra boxes.

rsl
Glad you got squared away, Roy!
Why do you guys close the registration before the event is over?

Life is hectic and internet access unpredicitble so never know if I can join in these kinds of things so pre-registration is not a good idea for me. But I do have time and access this weekend so I would have like to join in.
I'm sorry you didn't get registered in time, Jennifer. We have to have time to get the teams organized and communicate with the team captains in time for them to prepare, as well.

In the future, you can always register, and if life gets in the way, it's not a problem if you end up not being able to participate. We all understand how things can go sometimes.

Watch for the Connect-a-thon this summer. It should be sometime in July.
Wow, I surely thought I'd signed up, but it doesn't appear that I have. I guess I didn't do it right. Disappointing, when you try to follow instructions but don't succeed. :-(

On the top of this dialog box it says " Your answer".

I want to be a part of a team that works on New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
by Judi Stutz G2G6 Pilot (332k points)

Judy, you have been a member of Nor'Easters before. You even commented for Nor'Easters. We do Massachusetts and Connecticut and won't forbid you working in New York as well.

I'm going to add you to the roster unless you say otherwise.

I've not done anything like this before and think it is about time I dip my wee toes in and give it a go...

I mainly work on my direct Scottish and Irish Ancestors, I have strayed but not tooo far... I try to make sure the profiles I've produced have good sources and give them a wee Bio Timeline of their lives. My direct Ancestors have no Rich Aristocrats or Royals and I'll sure no win any Literary Awards for my written words.

The Wikitree platform has given me the opportunity to grow and learn over the years and I now have a better picture of my Ancestors and their lives. I've learned how to further my research, hunt for more sources and confirm or question my who, why, when and where's.

Wikitree, volunteers and members from what I have seen have a great community spirit and are taking on a huge task to try to connect everyone to a One World Tree, with well sourced quality information. On occasion, out of the blue, I have been on the receiving end of Wiki kindness and it was greatly appreciated.

If I can I would like to return in kind and thought this might be the best way for me to do it... So for my first toe dipping 2020 Clean - A -  Thon, I would like, if possible join the New Twisted Thistles Team.

Lesley.

You are in, Lesley, and I've added you to the Twisted Thistles team. :-)

Thank you Julie... smiley

I want to register for the Clean-A-Thon please. I would like to join the "Nor'Easters." If that is not possible then I would like to join 'Massachusetts.'

Thank you, Elizabeth

by Elizabeth Arsenault G2G2 (2.7k points)

Elizabeth, of course it's possible. Why look, there is your name on the list. Just go below and pick your cabin. We still have a few left.

Hi Steven,

I've been to all 3 links you have and I don't see a cabin? I found the spreadsheet. I was not on it so I put my name at the end of the list and I highlighted it so I can find it if I needed to. Can you tell me how to get to the cabins? I don't want them to fill up and miss out.  Thank you.

The port side is starting to get full but there is plenty of room on the starboard side. wink

(btw, check your email)

I checked my email. So very grateful, but I threw more right back atcha....

_____

Put me where I can be helpful, port side, starboard side, just not overboard.

Sign me up! I'm very interested in the Spring event. I'm finally building my family tree after many years of gathering bits of information and documents. It's all coming together! My current focus is on my mother's side in Eastern Europe. There are so many incredible tales; I am eager to find more about the history of their lives and events.
by Susanne Iles G2G Crew (830 points)

Hi, Susanne!

I see that you didn't pick a team. I took the liberty of putting you on the Tree Nuts, which Eowyn and I co-captain. We're a non-regional team. I noticed that you're fairly new, and we have several seasoned members who can help you out.

Here is our team chat.

Our team page.

And we also have a Discord server where we have live text chat going throughout the marathon. Just send me a private message, and I'll send you a link to get started. This could be really helpful as you're getting started. :-)

(and if you're looking at your notification for this in email, click through to the G2G post because I've added links for you. :-D )

I don't see where to join? But I would like to join a team in SA
by

You just joined, Stehan. :-) Eowyn will come along soon to give everyone a badge, etc. In the meantime, I would think the South African Springboks will be welcoming you to their team.

Have fun!!

Stehan --

I just took another look at your post, and you were not signed in when you posted your message. I'm afraid I won't be able to finish registering you unless you sign in and let us know what your profile ID is. :-(
