I see that several trees on Ancestry are claiming a French noble family -- the Counts of Chalus -- as progenitors of your Riel line.  It seems unlikely, especially if this research is correct: http://www.perthhs.org/documents/Viscompt-de-Chalus-shaw.pdf

Given the Methodist religion and the lack of French christian names, maybe keep your mind open to alternate spellings for Riel, such as Ryall or Riehl.

It sure looks like your Catherine Klinck is the daughter of Leonard Ives Klinck...I've initiated a merge with the existing profile.  

Catherine's sister also married a Riel - Peter Riel from Niagara Falls.  Maybe he is a brother or cousin to Jacob.

With names like Jacob and Peter, i'm leaning toward a spelling like Riehl, rather than a French Canadian origin.

The Riel ancestor who first came here was actually not French Canadian in origin, he was Irish.  Among my own ancestors. The name gets spelled any which way.  But the Jacob Riel (married to Catherine Klinck)'s parents are totally unsourced and questionable.
