Anyone have history of David Davis birth & location (b:@1771-1775), father of George S. Davis (b:@1805-1878)?

Question

Don't know date of birth or location of birth for ancestor David Davis (who owned a ship that was shipwrecked near Little Egg Harbor New Jersey).  His son George S. Davis said he was born in New Jersey (tombstone says 1805), eventually lived in Lewis County Kentucky by 1810 thru his death in 1834.  George S. Davis moved to Buchanan County, Missouri after 1850.
