How can Auguse Jay's parents be listed as "unknown" but are mentioned in his bio??????????

Auguste Jay was the son of Pierre Jay of La Rochelle, Fr. and his wife Judith Francois (married 2-4-1657). Pierre's father was Sylvestre Jay of Poictou, Fr (1570 - inq 11-6-1590) whose wife was Marie de la Barre. Auguste was John Jay's grandfather, and you don't know about this lineage????? I am descended from two of John Jay's sisters and have a "sporting piece" hanging over my fireplace which the first Chief Justice purchased in Spain in 1780.

Probably because no one has made profiles for them yet!

And because they will be pre-1700 profiles, they need appropriate sources.

As Christine says, it just means that the profiles haven't been created yet.  Often when you're working on a particular ancestral line you'll get to a point where you'd rather spend the time on closer or more direct parts of your tree.  So you just decide not to create that next profile, even though you know a name and some applicable data.  And you may just leave what you know as a comment in the Bio of the last profile you worked on so you or somebody else can take off from there later.

When I do this, I leave a "needs profiles created" category with the state name so when I need a break from what I am doing, I can go enter some profiles.
