Problems with Knapp-547

Question

There are a number of mistakes with Knapp-547. I cannot find where he had a second wife, plus the date given for their marriage is 14 years after he died. How can I delete the wife for which no data or citations are provided (no maiden name so she is an unknown? Also, I see mistakes for Knapp-184 who is certainly his daughter but is listed as the daughter of a different Moses Knapp (I can document this).  There is an Abigail listed (Knapp-1854) but it should be Knapp-184. How do I correct these errors?

There are a number of Moses Knapp. As pre-1700 profiles require proper sources it might take some work to sort it out. I suggest you add a Research Notes header to the profiles and add such records until it can be determined which belongs where. By putting the records out there it gives others a chance to review them.

That is a good idea but if there is no action on this, it is a waste of my time. There are no proper pre-1700 sources for this Knapp at this time.  I really think a new Moses Knapp should be entered and then merged with this one to get rid of all the errors, But that does not solve the problem with the real Abigail (Knapp-184).. I am concerned with this because all information points to Knapp-547 and being my 7th great grandfather and Knapp-184 my 6th great grandmother. I would have never detected this error except I was checking on the lineage that says I am 17 degrees separated from Henry VIII. This is likely not true.

I am following your advice and documenting all my information about Knapp-547 in a research section. I will keep this issue alive until there is a resolution.

I am working on fixing up Moses' profile. There is contradictory information, so it may never be completely clean, but will do the best with all available sources. The Knapp family has challenges with multiple members of it.

Yes, the Knapps are a mess in some instances Now that we have started and think we should continue.

How did you delete Elizabeth (?). Can we delete the erroneous children and correct Knapp-184 (Sarah Knapp).

I will document info on his children/non children on his profile; We should find where the "erroneous" children belong before they are deleted. Since they definitely do show up in multiple sources as being his children, it may be a bit more challenging to figure them out. We could mark their parents uncertain on each of their profiles, however.

I posted a message on Knapp-184 re who her correct father is; let's give the active PMs time to fix it.

I contacted the project managers several days ago. I have found two more instances where Knapp-184 is listed incorrectly (sister of Knapp-755 and daughter of Knapp-262). I will keep working on this.

Once her father is corrected she won’t have that Sarah as a sister. One fix changes it for all 3 profiles
