Will this free space page be helpful to those building biographies that intersect with the Second Boer War?  Or, more relevant, what additional features does it need to become more useful? https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Australia%2C_The_Second_Boer_War

What an outstanding page. Thank you so much for creating this great information for us.

The only recommendation I would say is to talk to the Military and War and/or Australia projects to see if they would like to co-manage the page. In the past we had some great pages created and for whatever reason, the creator left Wikitree and the page could not be adopted.

Thanks, Richard.  Good ideas.  I'll follow them up.

It looks great, Kenneth. I have a relative who was in the 4th battalion, but I haven't read much about it. For, me this is an excellent resource you have put together, very accessible!

(4th battalion of Commonwealth Horse). And apologies for if I have terminology incorrect!
That would be Algernon Salmon, Clare.  He also deployed to South Africa in 1900 with the 2nd Battalion, Western Australia Mounted Infantry, before returing in 1902 with the 4th Commonwealth Horse.  Quite a man.
Thanks Kenneth, I have added a link to your page to Algernon's profile, I think it would help anyone who wanted to learn more context about his undertakings. I am sorry to report I am not a sticker fan, so I don't have a sticker on his profile.

Thanks Kenneth, another good resource. Australian involvement in the Boer War was very confused, with many Australians taking ship privately and serving with all sorts of odd units once they were there.

Incidentally I think several Australian newspapers had correspondents there, including at least 1 I recall died there. But they probably weren't "official", as in part of the military.

Thanks, Mark.  Yes, I'll expand the war correspondents.  You're thinking of William John Lambie (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lambie-347), who was the first Aussie correspondent to be wounded, at the Sudan in 1885 and then the first to be killed, at South Africa in 1900.

Another was Horace H. Spooner (Sydney Evening News) who died of fever in 1900. I've seen a photo of his unremarkable grave somewhere on the web.http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-page24866229

Thanks, Mark. Have added him.

Thanks, Graeme. Glad to help.  It was a confusing war (but then aren't they all?).
