Not exactly related t your family, but your grandfather flew in Spain for the Republican side.  Escuadrilla LaCalle flew I-15 biplane flighters from an airfield next to Guadalajara, NE of Madrid.  One section of the squadron was nicknamed the Patrulla Americano (the American Patrol), initially led by Charles Koch, with Jim Allison, Frank Tinker, and Harold Dahl.  Koch left teh squadron shortly after due to health issues, and Jim Allison led the Patrol for the next couple weeks.

On 18-Feb-1937, your grandfather was wounded in an air battle  The wound became infected, and by mid-March, your father had been repatriated to the American hospital in Neuilly, France, and later to the US.

The next year, 1938, he went to China to serve in the 14th (International) Squadron of the Chinese Air Force under Gen. Claire Chennault.  The 14th had only just begun service when their aircraft were destroyed in a japanese air raid.  I believe Jim Allison stayed in China a while longer to help train pilots for the Chinese Air Force before returning to the United States.

Do you know when he was in the US Navy?

No military information. :(
No, I have not been able to find any military information about him, plus I have no information about his father. I have only a few letters of recomendation from some companies he worked and a pilot log with his license number, but not sure how to pull information with that.

Birth place.

I am not sure about my grand father's birth place, the only referece I have is my father's birth certificate which states he was born in Houston, Texas.

My great grand mother's name was found on my grand fathers death certificate is Leora Alice Fischer, DOB Feb-21 1885. There is a husband named Charles Herman Fischer, maybe sacond husband. Not sure if she devorced or widowed. My father did not met his father ever, his ftaher died when he was 3 in Peru. My dad was raised out in Mexico with some uncles.

All this information I have been able to pull out od Ancestry.com. The problem is I don't have any information about my great grand father so it's been very hard. I was thinking on getting my great grand father birth certificate but I've been looking with no succes. Maybe because I've focus in Texas.

I found some more information, I really don't understand legal slang and have problems understanding this document. It seems my grand mother had a few husbands. Not sure if her birth last name was Allison since in this document she has 2 last names, Fischer and Allison. I feel close now!!
