It has taken me over a year to finish the descendants of Elnathan.  I seemed to get caught up in connections to his line and others.

The family is now complete for what I have found and profiles are all properly sourced. There are over 1500 descendants plus associated family lines.

The families include Burr, Diggins, Dromgoole, Gannett, Griffith, Haviland, Holeman, Lavender, Lawton, Nichols, Pearce, Pierce, Pratt, Simpson, Wilbur and others, including Smith of course.

Locations start in New England and work west as would be expected.

If you have a few minutes to take a look, if you see a possible connection I have missed or a profile that needs some work I would appreciate a note.

Thank you.

Great work, Philip! I'm working on the same process for my eighth great grandfather, Thomas Barnum (1625-1695) so I can appreciate the amount of work involved in your project. I've found 6,986 descendants of Thomas who carry the Barnum surname (wives not included) and the inclusion of collateral lines brings the total number of documented descendants of Thomas Barnum to 18,896. So far I've uploaded only 8,534 of them to Wikitree and I certainly have years of work ahead of me uploading the remainder, verifying sources and cleaning up the thousands of profiles created by GEDCOM files. I stand in awe of your having accomplished so much in a year!

Patrick,

Thank you for your note.

I have found that it is faster to not use a gedcom but to enter each profile individually. There is so much clean up for the gedcom that it actually makes the process slower, not faster.   In order to keep it all straight I do find it necessary to keep all my information in my own system - with reference numbers matching Wikitree.  I can then print a biography from my system and format to match Wikitree as needed for sources.

Philip, Thanks for your response and good suggestions. I'll certainly be looking at how best to include them in my own project.
