Do you enjoy photographing gravestones? Would you like to see WikiTree reach its goal of documenting the final resting place of as many ancestors across the world as possible and sourcing them on profiles?

We NEED you! Many of our teams around the world are in need of members!

The goal of the Global Cemeteries Project is to create and/or update profiles of our deceased ancestors using original content, and reliable sources.

In order to meet our Goals, project members partake in a variety of tasks, including (but not limited to):

  • photographing tombstones and memorials;
  • transcribing the data contained within these photographs to ancestor profiles;
  • finding and adding reliable sources;
  • grouping of these profiles through the use of relevant cemetery and regional categories; and
  • documenting the history of our cemeteries through the use of free space pages.

If you are interested (and we hope you are!), please
ANSWER THIS POST with your local area(s) of interest.

We look forward to hearing from you!

I am interested in abandoned pioneer cemeteries in Oregon.
I am located in NJ. There are many old and new cemeteries around me. I will be happy to go out and take pics. Are you interested in any particular year or the whole cemetery?
I'm interested in cemeteries and would like to contribute. We live in NW Pennsylvania, but frequently travel into Eastern Ohio, and north Central Indiana. I would be happy to photo document in any area requested.
Hi, I'd like to join the Australian Cemeteries Team.
I am interested in small inactive and family cemeteries located in the Upper Gulf Coast region of Texas.  My interests include researching, photographing, indexing, and aerial mapping of cemeteries.

I am open to suggestions of cemeteries that need any of the attention and services aforementioned.  Thank you.
Hello Steve,

I Live in Connecticut and my Ancestors have been here Almost 400 years. I Manage to get to Rhode Island and Mass, on rare Occasion and Would Be happy to Help Any Way I Can.

I would like to help with transcribing and photographing headstones in SW Oregon

This would include Douglas, Coos, and Josephine counties. There are some cemeteries I've been searching for but unable to fine, though. I will let you know if they're not available.

i love cemeteries. i have already have tons of pictures from the area - Orleans County NY.
I would be happy to help transcribe. I am in Dublin, Ireland and live within 2km of Mount Jerome Cemetery where a lot of my family are buried.

I have family members buried in Pilot Grove Cemetery #1 in Jamesport, Missouri (Daviess County), I also have images of family tombstones.

I also have some images of family headstones in the Rockport Cemetery in Miami County, KS.

How do I add these to the biographies? I followed the Youtube directions, but it didn't work.

My ID is #19282

I'm interested.  Currently in the Parker, CO area, but will be moving to the Tampa area in the next few months.  I can't get more specific on the future plan until I engage a realtor on the other end.

I am in the Hardin County area of Kentucky. I have a fractured foot right now, so I cannot drive (let alone walk!) until July or so. However, once I am healed properly, I'd be willing to help document some local cemeteries in my spare time!

I might be able to help with some of the surrounding counties, too, depending on how far out the place is!

I have started a project photographing family gravestones in Rarotonga Cook islands. The weather is pretty tough on them including hurricanes and many people bury their family on family land (it is legal to do so). I visit several times a year.

I am living on the Sunshine Coast, Australia and am interested in photographing any interesting graves in my area. Have found out that some relatives are buried in Nambour, a 20 minute drive so will visit there soon. Interested in searching for and photographing specific graves outside of my family if anyone needs me to do so

Hello Cemeteries Project,

I am locally interested in Portland Metro area in Oregon and Vancouver Washington. We are also interested cemeteries in South and North Carolina, Virginia, and specifically colonial graves in Baltimore, Maryland. My sister and I revived a headstone in an old Vancouver cemetery by being involved in for genealogical purposes for our own research and to help others. I'd love to be a project member here.  Thank you in advance.

I am new to WikiTree but have been actively photographing and reconciling on Find a Grave the many civil war era cemeteries in my county of Georgia for a while now. I would love to share my photos and update the cemeteries here on WT, as this is somewhat of a passion project for me. I looked through the project for my state of Georgia and it does not appear that anyone is working on the cemeteries in my county (Paulding) at all, so I would love to join and dig right in if I can. Thanks so much.

I can cover cemeteries in Southeast Michigan and Eastern side of the Upper Pensula. Many of these cemeteries are already entered into the Find-A-Grave site.

Whilst researching someone in my husband's family I came across a site for a Devon cemetery where all the burial sites have been documented and memorials photographed.  The information is freely available with no copyright attached.  I'd be happy to go through the lists and attach details to profiles if you would like me to, also a free space page.  So I'd like to join.  I could also, in the future look at cemeteries around my small corner of Carmarthenshire.

I have found cemetery records for ancestors around the United States, that are not in the categories and have photographed tombstones with my Last name at Birth, Cox, when I travel. I live in Hunterdon County, New Jersey and may photograph nearby cemeteries in Frenchtown and Milford, New Jersey.
