My mother was "adopted" by Annie E. Munro of Canada. Annie had a brother William (Wes, an MD is possibly this William) and a sister Margaret. Annie was born in 1878 in Paisley, Scotland. She arrived through Ellis Island on Dec. 19, 1920. To my knowledge, she never became a US citizen. She was an RN.
After my mother's death, I find that, it appears Annie never adopted my mother legally. It also appears she changed my mother's name at least 3 times for Census info.

When Annie's sister in law was dying, she told my mother that, her biological father was William Munro, Married Mayor of Hudson Quebec, Canada. That would be Annie's brother. My mother's biological mother was Helen LaNee Hall.( Helen came to visit my mother a few times at our house when we were growing up). Geo. Evans is on the birth cert but my mother was born in a charity hospital & orphanage in Buffalo, NY. Annie was a spinster who raised my mother.
