how best to sort out a real mess

Question

I've got a guy with a number of children born some years after he died.  These were entered by people other than myself.

Have you discussed this with the profile manager, who appears to be quite active at Wikitree?

I'd also suggest contacting the profile manager.  Those children were born after the mother's death as well, so it's quite likely that they're just connected to the wrong parents.

I left a message on the profile to get the attention of the PM. Looks like there are still two profiles connected that don't belong to this set of parents.

One thing that can happen with older information is that a father and son can share the same name without someone noting that the son is a Jr.  Worse yet a man's brother can name his son with the same first name as him and you can get all sorts of ambiguities in that manner. Have you checked to see if any of those situations exist? Can you discover if such a situation exists?

I concur.  This is what I've seen most here. That said, I looked at the changes tab and so no evidence of a merge.

Looks like there is one generation missing between the parents and the children.

You should contact the profile manager to get help to correct this.
