Guillaume Pepin aka Trenchmontagne. He came from France leaving from The Charante Maritime region. The date had to b around 1623 as he was born in 1607 and was 16 when he arrived. He was a judge in Champlain at one time. Married to Jeanne Mechin in 1645.

we do not in fact know that he came from La Rochelle, there has been a lot of discussion and research on him already, some people say he is brother of Étienne Lafond, who came from La Rochelle, but that has not been proven.

Please see   https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Quebecois  Québécois project page, the section on names guidelines.  Dit names do NOT go in last name at birth unless that was the only name used on their baptism.
