Anyone heard of the "Making of America" online book collection? I just random clicked a link and holy cow.

https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/moa?key=title;page=browse;value=ge is the page I bookmarked but the home page is here. https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/moa/

I'm guessing this is University of Michigan? I have yet to go through it yet but it looks very promising.

What a splendid find. Holy cow indeed!

Just disappeared down the rabbit hole for the last hour looking for things. The search function seems to work really well. Huge number of sources for any researcher in Michigan, but finding lots of excellent other material including for early New York.

Thanks Steven!

Steve,

Great Stuff - Thank you.

For those who need something to do here is a great place to start

The New York Steam Cable Towing Company.

List of officers including among others: James A. Bell, Chauncey Vibbard, Harris C. Fahnstock.

Interesting a Google search using the last two names does pull up this book as well as a Supreme Court Case - wonder where that goes????...

Steven, I shared your link with a research buddy and she said thank you thank you. She also shared this link with me to the University of Cornell's version. She said that, at a brief glance, the two appeared to have some differences in the collections.
