I am looking to find a great uncle of mine or relatives of his, William Moore b1927 in Middlesbrough, England, He married a Sheila J Lambert in 1949 in Middlesbrough.  They had 2 children, Michael and Leslie.  The only thing i have found is them living in Scarborough Ontario but nothing after that.  Any help would be greatly appreciated,is there anywhere i could find records in Canada after 1975?  I have previously tried Ancestry, Find My Past and family search to no avail.

due to the law passed a couple years ago, records of possibly still living people can't be on the internet. You might try the library there when the corona crisis is over and it opens again

Thank You Frank, is there anyway I could prove it was him?  The last record of him is in Scarborough Ontario with his family 4 years before the death.  He was a warehouseman so I’m not sure how he would have ended up in Florida.

Kind Regards,

Dan Eales.
If there is a way to obtain more information from Social Security, that might lead to some clarification. At age 51 he would have been young enough to work.

Lots of people relocate from the northern climate to Florida. Maybe someone on the mentor list would be helpful.
Hi Frank, Thank You again for being a great help, i have done some research into the death in Florida, I dont think that can be him, the social security number was issued in Florida in the 1950's but i am pretty sure he was in Scarborough Ontario until at least 1974.  Thank You again I really do appreciate your help.

Kind Regards,

The only places you will find Ontario records for this time period is the Voters lists, so look on Ancestry under Census and Voter lists, the other place is phone books.

All Canadian provinces have rules about when B M D records can be released.

In Ontario they are 95 years after a birth, 80 years after a marriage and 70 years after a death.

You might find other information by doing a Google search for his name and location

For example: William Moore, Scarborough, Ontario and an appropriate date

Thank You, I really appreciate it.  That’s how I found them in Scarborough Ontario on the voters list, but the last one is 1974, after that I’m struggling, Moore is a very common name, I’ve had a look through the phone book for their children and also searched social media no to no avail so far.  I would love to speak to them as they are the last link to my grandfather who died in 1975.

Kind Regards,

Dan Eales
The only other possible source is the Ontario Land records, I have used them for older records  https://www.ontario.ca/page/search-land-property-records

They are supposed to be up to date, so the 1970's should be available, if you have the address you may be able to track when the house was sold. Though honestly I'm not sure how that would help.

Where was your grandfather?  Was his name also Moore?
My Grandfather stayed in Middlesbrough, England but died long before I was born, he had 3 brothers, 2 of which moved to a different part of England but both are now dead, again I never got the chance to meet them.  I was hoping to find one of them still alive, I know it’s highly unlikely but I am hoping I can find William or at least his relatives, I have come across some photographs in my research and I would love to pass them on and share them.  Thanks for your advice I shall have a look into it.

Kind Regards,

Dan Eales

Can you find any descendants of the others who stayed in England?

Have you tried British Genealogy? https://www.british-genealogy.com/forum/

They are free, they have a great help and brickwalls forum, you do need to register to use the forum.

How about the local family history centre? I believe it is the Cleveland family history centre or maybe Tees-side, I think you can post a request for information, I know you can for other Family History centres.

There is free access to the National Archives (UK) now, look under Teesside, I think that's correct.

Another option is Genes Reunited, it is a pay subscription, they also have a good help forum, and some excellent researchers.

My only other suggestion is to hire a private researcher, I did that several years while looking for a 4 X grt grandfather, they didn't find him, but did manage to rule out many people who were incorrect.

I did find the correct person years later, but it was a complete fluke

Hi, Thank You for your suggestions I appreciate it.  There are 10 descendants in total in the uk, my mother was 1 of 9 to the oldest brother George, the next oldest was Harry who was married twice but never had children, I did find his step family but they did not really know of his biological family although the did send me some photographs, then there was Arthur who had one son who I am in contact with, but he lost contact with his father in the 60’s and there is no real trace of Arthur after 1981 when his second wife died.  Then William b 1927 was the youngest, I wrote the Teesside registry office to confirm his marriage to a Sheila J Lambert in 1949, they had 2 children in England, Michael b1950 and Leslie b1952, after that the trace goes cold really.  Everyone William was in contact with is sadly no longer here and there is no paper trail.  Then I found him and his wife on the voters register in Scarborough Ontario in 1968 and then again In 1974 with children but due to stricter rules in Canada regarding records nothing after that.  I have gone through social media and the phone book and Moore is a really common name in Canada so it’s proving difficult to narrow it down.

Kind Regards, sorry for the long winded reply.
