Pre-1700 profile clean-up...help wanted, please.

Benjamin Duffield l (1661-1742) has a profile that needs to be cleaned up and sourced well. He immigrated from England and settled in Philadelphia. I found a bit of info on Ancestry, but I’m not sure how to enter that in a way that is useful here. This profile was gedcom generated (I adopted it) and all the sources are links to Ancestry. Should I remove those?

Also, I feel like I’m starting back at square one with this site and could use a mentor again. Do I just go to the list of mentors and beg some unsuspecting soul to help me out?

Thanks!

OK...it looks like I asked this question a couple of years ago and the answer is get rid of the sourcing that’s there. I would still appreciate help with this profile, though!
A mentor would be happy to help, I am sure.

This is how I would clean up the profile, as an example:

I made the source easier to read and locate by providing the links. Do you have access to Ancestry.com? There are better sources on there I think. I didn't really do more than glance.

Thank you! That looks so much better! And yes, I do have access to Ancestry. I try to use Family Search when I’m building a wikitree profile, but Ancestry seems to have more in this case.

Thanks for the input and additions...very helpful! smiley

I went and added a couple of sources, findagrave and a book source.

If you go to my start page in the scratch pad section there is a way that you can share the info, shorten the link and anyone can open the info. I didn’t figure it out someone else did. I wish I could remember who so I could credit him. It works great.

Eta link https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Home

That link, Alice, just takes her to her own home page.
The link goes to my home page, you can’t see the stuff on my scratch pad? Sorry I’m still figuring stuff out.  I’ll see if I can find the post that I was talking about.

While this is from a family tree book, there are a number of statements with dates that should be trackable.   If this looks like the family I would suggest using this as a clue but work to verify the info then enter ir using the verifying sources.
