I have found, in my ancestral line, that Labrie was originally a dit name. I believe it started with the spouse of (Mignot-22) Nicolas Mignot 1608 - 10 Nov 1648, Bayeux, Normandy, France, (DeBrie-2) Madeleine DeBrie 1600 - 10 Nov 1648 Antony, Paris, Ile-de-France, France. Next the Mignot changes to Mignault, Mignau, Migneau, Mignotte and seems to end with Migneault dit or dite (depending on gender) Labrie or I've found other spellings to be Labri, Labbe, LaBrie, Labry, I really believe people could not spell back then. I see there is a line of LaBries in the Dakotas, I would like to know where they originated from. Also, I see Labrie has stayed in Canada, I would like to know their origination. Lets all get together and let each other know what they have found on Labrie. We must all be related some how, lets find out.

Update: Thanks to the research done by Laird-1, I can now say for fact that my ancestral line, that can be confirmed, starts with Louis Mignot and his spouse Jeanne Chaillou, then comes their son Jean Mignot dit Labrie (Migneault-30) who setteled in Riviere-Ouelle, Canada, Nouvelle-France from Saint-Germain-Laxis, Ile-de-France, France.  Are there any Labries out there who have found their ancestral line originates from a different Labrie?

hi Judith,

Please be aware that the dit name Labrie is NOT limited to this family.  The name Labrie stems from la Brie, and got assigned to more than one military immigrant from France who originated in the area of Brie.

oh dear, found a can of worms I think, someone has made 2 men into brothers who have no evidence for such.
Thank you for the comment. Just trying to get some feedback by more Labries.  I have to start somewhere and I'm going on what I have found on my own regarding my ancestral line. I now know more about Labrie than I did yesterday and I hope other informative comments are coming.
