Does anyone here know anything about a Reuben Prentice/ Prentis from Somers, Connecticut?

My great grandfather,  Albert Prentice is a brick wall for me. His death certificate says he was born in Somers, Connecticut in 1860 and that his parents were unknown. He doesn't seem to exist until the 1880 census when he was living with a Gowdy family as a servant. I have a letter of reference from Mr. Gowdy in my family papers. He married Emma Colvin of Enfield and they raised their family there. My father and I have DNA matches to multiple descendants of Reuben Prentice. Thanks.

James , died 1820, buried in Enfield cemetery.
Albert named a son William. Folks back then kept names in the family. William that married Theodocia maybe Albert's grampa ?
Thank you.  I've thought about that as well.  I've only been able to find one son for William (of Reuben) and he died young, age 19, I think. The other problem is that Albert's wife's father was also named William.
Very difficult to find records for this area after the late 1850s.
