Lloyd Name Study

+13 votes

In association with the celebration of Family History month, as one of their first challenges, WikiTree is encouraging genealogists to start or join a one name study. I did so a few days ago, starting a one name study for the surname Lloyd. I've also added a number of profiles to the Lloyd Name Study category page.

If you share the Lloyd surname or any of its many variants, please drop by and share in the fun. Who knows, we may discover our connection.

That's great Pam! I hope everyone with a one name study follows your lead.

Thanks, Doug. I hesitated before I shared the info here, but I wanted to make sure that other Lloyds have a chance to find out about it.

Hmm, I think I'll add some name variants to the tags. smiley

Hi Pamela,

I'm interested in adding my Lloyds to your Lloyd Name Study. As a newbie, I'm not sure how to go about this. Can you please instruct?

Hi Tammy! Welcome!

To add someone to the Lloyd study, enter the code for the Lloyd Name Study category in the biography box on their profile. Use the following code:

I usually list all the categories at the top of the biography, but I don't think it matters to WikiTree.

Once your Lloyd profiles have the category code, they will be listed on the Lloyd Name Study category page at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Lloyd_Name_Study.

Thanks, Pamela! It took me a bit of fiddling to work out that I didn't need the "<nowiki>" and "</nowiki>" bits, but I've got it now and have added 5 Lloyds to your One Name Study. I should be able to find a few more, once I locate all the sources and add them.
Hi Tamara,

Looks like I should proofread my work better. :)

Sorry about the <nowiki> bits showing. They are necessary in some contexts (and I'm still trying to figure out which!) in order to display code that WikiTree tries to act on, rather than display. I'm very glad you were able to get things to work.

Thanks so much for including your Lloyds in the study!
No apology necessary, Pamela! I should've realised earlier than I did, as I can HTML code and it doesn't appear that wiki coding is that different. I just didn't think about it, is all! Thanks for responding and making it possible for my additions to your one name study.

Yay! Thanks, Erin. *dances happy Snoopy dance*
I have some Lloyds in my database - not ancestors but an "in-law" - and will be happy to add them. But how do I add them? I've put the template about the Lloyd One name strudy on the profile but couldn't find the spot to enter names on the list. It's likely right in front of me but I'm not seeing it!

Lloyd-2330  is the fellow I'd like to add.

...and now I see that using the template, automatically enters the name! Live & learn.
Thanks, Marie! The more the merrier!

Hi Pamela!  Three Lloyds in my ONS at www.bartondatabase.com.  You're welcome to harvest.

Thanks, Gary. I'm not able to take on the extra responsibility of creating new profiles for Lloyds from your site. Also, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information for them at your site, since they were spouses of Barton's and no parents are listed for them. Perhaps you'd like to create profiles for them here and connect them to the ONS here.

I have added Frances Lloyd-81 to your name study. Although I'm not a Lloyd, my name has Welsh origins. Frances is part of a line from a Magna Carta Surety to a Gateway Ancestor. Best of luck on your study. They are fun.
