To get certification to create and edit pre-1500 people, you must demonstrate an ability to properly source with PRIMARY sources - actual documents and records. You then take a test. All the profiles you have created thus far should be sourced before you take the test.

You will also have to join a project and participate - create profiles - with sources - for I think 3 months to be able to show that you know what you are doing before you can be passed to received the badge.

Just remember. there are VERY FEW SOURCES available for anyone who is not of the nobility class, dating back before the 1500s. But each new profile you make - 1 must not be a duplicate and 2 - must have a source.

Good luck.
