Just stumbled on this one, alot of  "American Names"  & "Foreign" names,  but also many that most likely came from Canada or France

THE OFFICE OF RECORDER OF DEEDS, IN THE COUNTY OF ST. LOUIS, MO. EY OSCAR W. COL LET. “The Court being satisfied that it is necessary to provide an Index (both Direct and Indirect) to the Recorder's Office, doth order that the same be made and finished by OSCAR W. COLLET, he being deemed by the Court a competent person to perform such work; and that said Collet shall make and complete said Index on the Dictionary plan.”
