I am the 2x Great Grandson of Samuel J Hopper (b1837-d1900) of Madison Co. Arkansas. His Father is Samuel Hopper (b:abt 1810- d:abt 1860) born in Warren Co. Tenn. Samuel J Hopper-b1837 was born out of wedlock (maybe), his mom being Ceilia Beck. According to his pension file he was an illigitamate child and lived with his aunt his whole life Sara Beck and did not meet his father Samuel til just before the civil war, and his father died shortly before the war. 1820 Census shows Samuel-b1810, 10yrs old in Warren Co.Tenn. He died in Yell Co. Arkansas abt 1860. It seems that the whole Hopper family line can be traced except for mine. I just seem to be missing that one thing that links my family to the rest of the line that has already been laid out. PLEASE HELP!!! I have been 1 1/2 yrs and $400 in tracing this family out.

                                                                    Thank You

This interests me as I have researched both on the Hopper side and my Husbands line the Beck's.  Your Samuel follows the trail of some of my Hoppers going from Warren Co. Tenn to Arkansas.  I am from Gillium Hopper b. 1776 , then his son James T, Hopper. b. 1806 in The Cumberland Gap. The family was between Kentucky and Tennessee.  One of the older sons Moses married and traveled to Arkansas to raise his two families.  There was a lot of scandal in the Hopper family and each generation said they wanted to forget the past and start new.  As for the Beck's  I can only take them back to Marshall Co. Tennessee - John E. Beck was the son of John Beck b. @1790 in NC. We are not connected to many of  the Beck's that lived in that area. Would love to share with you.
