Is anyone closer than I am to Ricky Gervais?

Ricky Gervais is my 8th cousin twice removed, and he is seven degrees from me (our common ancestor is Charles Allaire). I had to check his father, Lawrence Raymond Gervais (who is linked down below).

Well, this is interesting, although I have no idea who Lawrence Gervais IS.  I checked and Larry and I are 9th cousins, once removed (9C1R) - I am descended from Elizabeth Ann (Beauchamp) Rucker, the daughter of Michel Beauchamp whereas Larry is descended from Jaques the son of Michel

Strangely, my mother always SAID I was English, Irish, Scots, Welsh, German and French (combo of both parents) and this is the first indication -- this maybe descent from Michel Beauchamp -- that there was indeed some possible substance to the claim of a French strain ...

He was born in the same town as me (Reading, Berks) but so far I haven't found that I'm related to anyone even vaguely notable.

Amazing, Tinsley, Howell are on my mother's side and the Medlock, Huffman, Chaffin are on my father's side. So it's Beauchamp > Rucker > Tinsley, Margaret RUCKER Tinsley being the dau in law of Sarah HOWELL Tinsley, dau of James HOWELL and Martha DENNY ... I'm lost amid a confusion of names and not all that convinced it's accurate ...

Owen, take comfort in the self-evident fact you are related to a plethora of relatives preceding your birth ... and if you could track every single one of them, the "boards would groan and totter under the weight of them" ... think I mixed a metaphor ...

If you are to date the result of such fortuitous meetings, what more could a Notable add?

Hi Susan - i think you are wise to be a little cautious about that pedigree, particularly the link to Elizabeth Ann Beauchamp marrying Peter Rucker's father in Bayern, Germany.  Peter Rucker's bio clearly says that there is only conjecture available as to his European origins.  His father's name as Ambrose Levi Rucker in Bayern in the mid 1600s looks very speculative indeed.

On the other hand, a lot of documentation exists on the Beauchamp family because the Roman Catholic priests in New France kept pretty complete records of BMD, and later most of it was compiled in genealogical dictionaries.  Elizabeth Ann Beauchamps is not documented in those sources as far as i can see.  Also her name isn't quite right for the time and place.  If her name had been Marie Elisabeth i might not have become suspicious.  

Anyway, good thing you weren't counting on this being your French Connection!

I am Ricky Gervais’ 1st cousin.  His father and my father were brothers. They were born in Paincourt,  Ontario Canada…. our grandfather and grandmother were Delore Gervais and Florence Deloges..
