I know that Hugh Inglis (Inglis-1224) and Evelyn Forbes (Forbes-3899) married at st Giles in 1911. They had a daughter Evelyn Forbes (Inglis) March (Inglis-1222) in 1919.

I am having trouble finding sources and information on Forbes-3899.  I am also having trouble discerning between three Hugh Inglis’ involved in the North British Railway. One is a Colonel probably born in the 1820s and has a place near Inverness named by him. the other likely born in the 1860s and probably the inventer of a device to make stream engines more efficient and who retires in 1920 after 40 years with the NBR, and a younger Hugh who is a civil engineer and invents a spark arrestor which reduces wildfires from steam engines and serves in the army in WW I, and marries Evelyn.  More info and some sources are in the research note in the bio for Inglis-1224.

Thanks for any help on this!

You can buy there marriage certificate for a dollar or two on scotland's people (link below). I search and it's definitely on there. That will give you the names of both their parents.  From there you should be able to trace them. All birth marriages and deaths after 1855 in Scotland should be recorded on scotland's people and will include a lot of info including parent's names.

In addition to the statutory registers Janelle referred to, www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk also has many church registers of births, etc. going back a few centuries earlier.  I find the following, with one spelling of Ingliss or another, in or about 1820. By registering and purchasing credits, you can view and save images of the original records ...

Hugh Ingles 6 Jul 1817 to William Ingles and Mary Smith in Abbey Parish

Hugh Inglis 2 Aug 1818 to Andrew Inglis and Elizabeth Dunlop in Kilmarnock Parish

Hugh Inglis 9 Sep 1820 to Robert Inglis and Mary Lock in Barony Parish; probably died in early childhood ...

Hugh Inglis 30 May 1827 to Robert Inglis and Mary Lock in Glasgow Parish; Barony Parish is in the City of Glasgow.

Hugh Cameron Ingles 25 Jun 1821 to John Ingles and Janet Reid in Kilsyth Parish

Hugh Inglis 24 Sep 1824 to James Inglis and Janet Curle in Kilmarnock Parish

Hugh Inglis 23 Oct 1826 to William Inglis and Jean Hutchison in Kilmarnock Parish; probably died ...

Hugh Ingles 10 May 1828 to William Ingles and Jean Hutchison in Kilmarnock ParishHugh Inglis 2 Jul 1831 to Alexander Inglis and Mary McDougall in Glasgow Parish

By following each of these people in the census, you might be able to determine which of the above might be your Colonel Hugh Ingliss.
