Information on John H. Johnsen

Good morning all!

Have a brick wall on my mother's paternal side (JOHNSEN) that I was hoping to get some feedback on. Growing up, I was told that my mom's paternal side was Scandinavian (specifically, Danish.) I've been trying for the last couple of years to confirm this with no luck. I figured I'd ask the group to see if anyone can offer some assistance.

The details for the man I believe is my 2nd great grandfather are below:

John H. Johnsen (b. abt 1873 in New Jersey, d. unknown.)

Wife: Anna May Duncan (b. abt. 1875 in Cedar Rapids, IA, d. 6/14/1956 in Omaha, NE.)

From my research of Nebraska Marriage Records from 1855-1908, I "think" that John's father was Paul Johnsen, but I have no other information beyond that.

Any feedback or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Betty! I did happen to find the marriage license for John and Anna, however, I've had a hard time finding anything else about John or his parents (Paul and Mary Johnson.) I tried searching New Jersey for census records, birth certificate, etc. and have come up empty handed so far. Any ideas on how to go about finding more info about them?
Looked at posibility he was killed during WW1,did not see

anything.
His wife, Anna, shows up as widowed on the 1920 census too. It's strange... It's like he got married to her and then just "disappeared"

Wayne-

Good catch on the "widowed" fact...I've looked at that census, but never noticed that before. Going to try and track down a obit or a death certificate for John...

To clarify, he died in Highland Park, NJ? I don't think he would have gone back to NJ and died there without his wife Anna (who by all accounts), spent all of her adult life in Omaha, NE.
