Technical questions regarding emails: I use Outlook as a email client and had set up filters as I get quite a bit of email daily. the problem is that setting up the filter resulted in only some WikiTree email being put in the filter. Outlook rejected (put in spam or another folder), for example the G2G e-mails even though WikiTree was in the title. I followed the rules, but I think the problem was Wikitree has so many different titles, and rules on the Email client can complicate things even more. If i would have known this, I would have set up a separate email account for WikiTree, as it can still be linked to the client. so, is it a good idea to create a new email address or suggest this to future members?

I do not use Outlook, but my one line filter like "Anything containing @wikitree.com in the sender's e-mail address" works for me as a catch all.

It is hard to see what other rules your/Microsoft/Outlook has put in place. Usually spam filters are either built up by you entering other e-mails in your spam box (saying: anything like this is spam) or your  provider doing some markings in the 'headers'.

I would advice to get an extra e-mail address if you feel like it. I do, as I try to separate my professional and hobby lives. Downside: you need to  stay in focus with who knows which e-mail address and Outlook hates it (It wants to build one profile for you).

Hope this helps a bit.

I think it would be easier. Just from a maintenance standpoint, as having an electric bill wind up in G2G only because G2G is part of your account number creates work and stress. Also the fact that WikiTree can potentially create dozens of emails per day depending on the no. of projects and communications you have. Hard to spend a lot of time researching if your sorting email.
