According to documentation I have from church records, there were TWO Elias House. One, the son of Mark, and another younger one who married Barbara Quilman MEISENHEIMER on 29 Jul, 1808, in Cabarrus County, NC. AND ACCORDING TO THOSE RECORDS, HE is the one who had a son named Moses ... NOT the older one. Acccording to the research I have done it was the younger on who went to IL and was buried inUnuion Co. According to THEM, THE REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER ELIAS AND HIS WIFE ARE BOTH BURIED AT THE CHURCH CEMETREY.  Seems that someone really has things screwed up and feeding incorrect information to you.

Elias House, son of Mark House and Anna Maria Bast and Revolutionary War Veteran, married a second time to Barbara Misenheimer Quilman 7-29-1808 in Cabarrus Co. N.C. She was the widow of Peter Quilman and daughter of Johann Jacob Misenheimer and Anna Margaretha Reiter. Elias bought land in Union Co. Illinois in 1818 and moved there shortly after the 1820 census for Cabarrus Co. In 1824, in both Union Co. and Jackson Co. Illinois, he petitioned to have his  Revolutionary War pension transferred from Cabarrus Co. N. C. to Union Co. Il. He died in Union Co. 5-10-1820 or 5-10-1820. The day of death is hard to read on the document. Barbara  Quilman House married a third time to Christopher  Lyerly in 1827. Elias was never married to Elizabeth Cress, daughter of  Nicholas Cress and Catherine Eberhardt, as she married Jacob Misenheimer, brother of the above Barbara Misenheimer Quilman House Lyerly, in 1779 Rowan Co. N.C. Jacob Misenheimer died in 1821, long after Elias was married to Barbara. Elizabeth Cress Misenheimer wrote her will in 1830 and named all of her sons and none of them are consistent with the sons of Elias. I believe I know who he was married to, but I will not post it until I am positive as there is enough misinformation about Elias House, his wives and his children.

I miss typed the date of Elias House's death. It was 5-10-1826 or 5-20-1826. The day of death is hard to read and it's difficult to tell if it's a "1" with a foot or a "2". There is only one Elias House that shows up on any census for Cabarrus Co. North Carolina and he disappears after the 1820 census when he moved to Illinois. I cannot find any other Elizabeth Cress that could have been married to Elias. I can't find another Elizabeth Cress besides the one married to Jacob Misenheimer PERIOD. If there was another Elias House and Elizabeth Cress, PLEASE, offer some proof of it. I called the office of the Saint John's Evangelical Church and they had the record books (they can be purchased) right there in the office. The church secretary very graciously took the time to look up Elias and Elizabeth and there were no records of them being buried in the church cemetery . If the church has no records of them, how does anyone else know they are buried there? I have a copy of the church's birth and baptismal records and there is NOTHING in them that would even hint that there were two men named Elias House. Elias just simply had a family with his first wife , she died, and he remarried and had a family with his second wife, Barbara Misenheimer Quilman. That second family is the one you see in the baptismal records as the earliest dates of those particular records don't start until 1797. I have spent countless hours researching the House family and other peoples research has been extremely helpful as a guideline, but everything I have used in replying to messages has been taken from actual documents and records. If there is more documentation  than I have, I urge you to share it so we can get put together the most accurate genealogy of  the House family. If I am wrong, I will be the first to admit it, but I think the documents speak for themselves.
