A new notable connected to the Global Tree - Australian Jon English (1949–2016)

+10 votes

I've connected Jon English, the English-born Australian singer, songwriter, actor and musician to the Global Tree. Connections should appear at the next update.

While for many Jon was best known as a 'legend of Aussie rock', for me he'll always be the 'Pirate King', wearing purple pants.

I'm forever grateful to my parents for taking my brother and I to see Pirates of PenzanceThe Mikado and HMS Pinafore at the Canberra Theatre in the 1990s. We all absolutely loved Jon English in these, so funny. Later, we had videos of these stage shows, and they were well-loved and well-watched until the end of VHS.

Once seen, never forgotten. Those eyes!
And best of all, a devoted Fitzroy Football Club fan.
Great in Against the Wind.
Thanks Clare!! Fantastic to have Jon English on WikiTree.
A wonderful bloke, brilliant personality and always tons of laughs.   Knew him well and had him on my radio show a few times.  We lost him way too soon.

Fantastic entertainer; one of the very best.  How does one pick his best song or acting role?  Six Ribbons, All Together Now, Against the Wind, Pirate King, The Mikado?  Thanks for 'hooking Jon up', Clare.  I have his ultimate collection CD and have just put it on, full volume of course.
