I wish to upload a family tree associated with historical houses.  I am not a member of this tree.  How do I upload the gedcom?

Oh, I am also new so this might be a stupid question.  Guess I'll find out, Thanks, Larry

Welcome Larry!  There is only one tree here, and you are a member of it.  Now a full-up member.  yes

Hi, Larry! First, you should volunteer to do genealogy. If by "historical houses" you mean royalty, most of the European royal houses are already extensively profiled here on Wikitree. See: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:European_Aristocrats

Jessica,

Is it might understanding that you don’t have to first volunteer to be able to upload a GEDCOM file?

See Help:GEDCOM

You can upload a GEDCOM file for comparison purposes even if you are not a confirmed member. This, however, will not automatically create a tree on WikiTree.

Thanks for the quick reply Jessica.  And you are correct it is similar to the European Autocrats trees, but simply for the 1890 build house I am living in.  I want to upload it and share it with those who have connections, or is some cases were slaves of these planters.

Hi Larry,

Here is the WikiTree help page that discusses uploading a GEDCOM file.

You could create a free-space profile about your house, including information about the former occupants. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Free-Space_Profile for details. You would create it as a New Thing.

Also, create profiles for the individual occupants of the house. You may find that some of them already have WikiTree profiles, and you can add relatives to those profiles to create family trees for them. And interlink your free-space page with the profiles for the people. To create a profile for a person who is not yet connected to a profile on WikiTree, use Add New Person.

You will need to sign the Honor Code before you can create new profiles for people not directly connected to you.
