hidden jewish children in WW2

I recall that sometimes there has been a post on WikiTree where a person was surprised, upon doing their DNA, to discover DNA evidence of Jewish roots.

Maybe this is another scenario which resulted in Jewish DNA that was unknown to the family:

Today's Google doodle is in honour of Nicholas Winton and the British Kindertransport mission.  His efforts helped rescue 669 children.  They have not all been traced (although there are some Notables among them).  So there might be individuals who are unaware of their history in this regard.

To people my age, this is practically contemporary history, occurring in a context of modern documentation.  Yet the Hidden Children and the children rescued by Kindertransport would likely find a brick wall when trying to research their past in regular documents.

Just another possibility to consider when running into brick walls in WW2 or with Jewish DNA.

I am sure this happens, but be careful of relying solely on DNA for ethnic background.

My wife did a DNA test about 3-4 years ago and was surprised to learn she was 16% Jewish. (That's at least one full-blooded grandparent, or the equivalent). Then she logged in a few months back, they had revised her report (without notifying her about it), and took away the entire Jewish component! Now she's almost entirely southeast European, as she had expected.

We should All of Us require through a formal request that those who gain by holding our DNA test results always report changes to our histories IF we ask for it.

That would require us to request those changes in advance ("fair warning") and to give consideration to our pointed interest in our deep family members.  !!!!
