I am sure this happens, but be careful of relying solely on DNA for ethnic background.
My wife did a DNA test about 3-4 years ago and was surprised to learn she was 16% Jewish. (That's at least one full-blooded grandparent, or the equivalent). Then she logged in a few months back, they had revised her report (without notifying her about it), and took away the entire Jewish component! Now she's almost entirely southeast European, as she had expected.
