He was born in Alabama and lived in Arkansas and Texas as well.  His father was William Pullen Byars and his mother was Lucy Ann Thurston.  He is buried in Smithville Arkansas next to his mother and not with his wife in Texas. I would also like more information on his father.  I was told that W.P. Byars died in the Fort Smith Arkansas area but I can find no information.  Charles Lavelle Byars (aka:  C.C. Byars, Lavel Byars, Charles Clavelle Byars/Byers)  was married to Mary Wayland in Arkansas.  At some point they moved to Texas where they had 4 or 5 children.  At some point Lavelle Byars returned to Alabama where he married Nancy Elizabeth Carlisle.  Both the 1st and 2nd marriage licenses are available on public records.  There are no records of a divorce.  Therefore, he may have been a bigamist.  Some time after 1908 he left Alabama.  He is recorded on the 1910 census in Texas but not the 1920.  His wife Mary was listed as a widow.  His 2nd wife Nancy Elizabeth died in 1915 (in Alabama) of tuberculosis.
