Could someone please add Edmund Butler, Archbishop of Cashel:

as the son of Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormonde. The mother is unknown. Sources are given in the "comment" on the profile for Piers.

Many thanks.

I tagged pre-1500 and Euroaristo to bring this to the attention of more people.

The profile is Project-Protected, so before anyone can add Edmund, you need to get in touch with the British Royals & Aristocrats Project and ask them to remove the PPP.

Thanks Ros. I've just sent them a note.

Richard Devlin noted, in response to your wikipedia sources, that "The two Wikipedia articles do not give sources as Piers as father. There seems to be some disagreement to this fact from other historians. I will look into this a little farther."

As such, let's wait to see what Richard comes across before adding him as the son of Piers.

No worries. I realise the 8th Earl of Ormond is a big name in Irish history and a "preferred ancestor" for many of us!

If it helps, here are some solid sources specifying that Edmund, Archbishop of Cashel, was the illegitimate son of Piers, 8th Earl of Ormond:

1) Oxford Dictionary of National Biography:

https://www.oxforddnb.com/view/10.1093/ref:odnb/9780198614128.001.0001/odnb-9780198614128-e-4180

2) Pedigree researched by Walter FitzGerald and published in the Kildare County Archaeological Journal, Vol. 6, 1909, p.121:

The ODNB cites Anthony Woods Athenae Oxoniensis.( Volume 2 757 )

Woods in turn cites Sir James Ware De Praesulibus Hiberniae, ( written 1665 according to wikipedia) p 17

I've attached Edmund as the son.  Thanks for the sources.

I did some minor PIP work for Piers to add inline profile links include for Edmond (who was already mentioned in the text) and turn some phrases into complete sentences. The references tag was also in odd location. See also was non-standard heading. There is a "Citations" section that is a exact bulk cut and paste from thepeerage.com. This is against our guidelines. The Peerage lists 10 children but WikiTree only has seven in the list of children and five called out in the bio section. Some more TLC would be good here.
